Important Rule Updates for 2012:
SC Governor's Cup Updated Class Specifications:
The South Carolina Governor’s Cup Equitation class is open to junior members of the SCHJA and may be ridden on a horse or pony. Only one rider per horse or pony. To be shown over a modified hunter course of 8 fences with fences set at 3'. The course may include a combination which counts as one fence, at least two changes of direction, and two spread fences. There must be three exhibitors to fill the class. Two or more riders must return for additional testing as determined by the judge(s). The additional testing will count 25%.
Combining of Palmetto Junior & Pony Medals:
If either the pony or junior medal lack sufficient entries to fill their respective class, then they may be combined and striding distances must be adjusted to accommodate the respective horses or ponies showing in the combined medal class.
Qualifying Numbers for Medal & Derby Finals:
Palmetto Junior & Adult Medals as well as Palmetto Derby Finals will invite the Top 20 Positioned Riders/Horses to compete in their respective finals at the Palmetto Year End Horse Show in December. The Palmetto Pony Medal will invite the Top 15 Riders.
