Stay tuned for more information about the Judy Young Ride Forever Scholarship Fund. After the unexpected passing of Judy Young, in lieu of flowers, her son Gary Young asked that donations be made to a new Scholarship Fund to be set up in her memory through the South Carolina Hunter Jumper Association, of which she was a valued longtime supporter and community member.

The donations have come in from all over the country, and we are so proud that her legacy will provide our members in need the same kind of opportunities that she provided during her distinguished career.

SCHJA Rule Changes For 2016 - Effective December 1, 2015

As of December 1, 2015:

Three to Complete Rule

At Palmetto rated horse shows it takes 3 horses to complete the course for the class to count for Show Championship or year end awards. Horses who are eliminated or retire on course are not eligible for ribbons.

In Hunter or Hunt Seat Equitation classes over fences, the horse and rider have to ride the posted course from start to finish with out disqualification to be deemed they competed.

In Jumper classes the horse has been deemed to have competed when the horse crosses the Start Line in the proper direction after given an audible signal to start by the judge.

Long Stirrup Hunter - Fence height 2' (NEW FENCE HEIGHT & ELIGIBILITY)

Open to horses or ponies ridden by a rider age 13 and over including adult amateurs who are in their first or second year of recognized or unrecognized showing over fences exceeding 18 inches in height. The first year of eligibility is determined by the horse show calendar year in which a rider begins competing in the Long Stirrup Division at a recognized GHJA-NCHJA-SCHJA or USEF, or any other state or local horse show organization.

RULE ADDITION: Riders may not cross enter into any other classes where fence heights exceed 2’3” except age group equitation at same show.
